My Cowboy Poetry blog now happily resides on the Blogger network. This time I did the transfer from the Firefox browser instead of from the AOL client, and it went much more smoothly. The AOL browser has many 'modifications' that makes it behave differently from other Internet browsers, and I suspect it just doesn't mesh up with the transfer process software properly. If you are having difficulty with the transfer of your journal, try doing it from outside the AOL client.
However, I had the same result with the pictures on this journal as I did on my previous one. Blogger says that the graphics in your journals will be ported over to Google's Picasa service, but that did not happen. More when I figure it out.

I thought they were being transferred over to Picasa, but we had to re-associate them. So, are you sure they're not in some folder on Picasa just hanging around, having a smoke and looking cool?

Dan,
I did go looking, but could find no Picasa account associated with my Google account. Not sure where to go from there.

That Picasa thing is a bit of a pain to navigate, but, if they are there, you should be able to see your pictures here so long as you're signed in to Google with the same user name you have with your Blogger blog:
http://picasaweb.google.com/
Hope that helps.

Dan,
I just received confirmation from Vish that only pictures that were uploaded to AOL's You've Got Pictures service, and are direct linked, will be ported over. All of my pictures were manually uploaded to my ftp space, so they will not be moved. Luckily, back when our good friend Joe Loong left AOL, he warned me that something was in the works, and I downloaded all of the stuff from my ftp and uploaded it to Flickr, so I won't lose anything. However, reassociating all the urls to the pictures' new locations will be along and arduous process.

Hmm... I never used that AOL pictures thing and some (actually, pretty much just a small fraction) of my pictures were moved. I think those are just the ones not in any subfolders.
Anyway, I don't really think I even want to dig up the old photos and reassociate them in their proper places. Maybe if I'm trapped in the throes of a rabid case of insomnia one of these nights I might, but as it stands, I think I can live with the little red x's.
Learn to love the little red X, Paul. It's your friend. Your buddy.

Let me (or post here) when you move AWV over to blogger.
