Can you say, "centrist?"

Actually, these quizzes are parodies, and not meant to be taken seriously. They espouse only the most outrageously extreme positions of either side. I would be seriously leery of anyone who scored more than 30-40% on either of these tests.
As far as representing my political opinions, tests like these are useless, because the political stage in Canada is so much different. Our multi-party system allows us to vote in a more moderate way. There are more choices than simply black or white.
That's a serious problem you Americans need to address. The extreme polarization of your political parties is tearing your country apart, and nothing good can come of continued extremism, on either side of the fence.

You Are 8% Republican
If you have anything in common with the Republican party, it's by sheer chance.
You're a staunch liberal, and nothing is going to change that!

You Are 20% Democrat
If you have anything in common with the Democrat party, it's by sheer chance.
You're a staunch conservative, and nothing is going to change that!

Do  me a favor and stop preaching to me how we should live our lives on our side of the border in a completely different political and social climate. Stop telling me what's wrong with my own country and live your life in your own. I'm tired of all this pro-Canadian/anti-American rhetoric. When your country is in a position to carry the burdens of ours then I'll listen to you scream and whine, until then ride your high horse off into the sunset.

And, for the record, I never tell anyone what they have to or don't have to do when it comes to faith, so if you want to take pot shots at christianity do so to people who actually persecute your skepticism. I always ask questions, of both sides. Your little diatribe has little to do with skepticism and everything to do with your own biases. Do me a favor - if you don't like the channel? Change it. Don't read what I write if you're going to be offended. Then, magically, nobody from my journal will be telling you what to do.

And while we're at it, I want a pro-life movement in the democratic party because my party has been traditionally been the party of the oppressed for the last forty years; and as I believe human life begins at conception (notice this is a biological issue, not a faith issue) I feel that one of the most oppressed segments of American society are unborn Americans. And really, I'm not going to play on the slippery slope of you do your thing, I'll do mine, because that's a cop-out. We're socialized from the get go; we are a product of numerous institutions - we have been raised and influenced by others. To pretend now that those rules no longer apply is nonsense. My stance on pro-life isn't based on telling anyone what to do or not to do - it's based on the concept of law - murdering an American. That's illegal.

Cool.  28% republican, 28% democrat.  How wishy-washy can I get?

Need to revamp the health care system too, won't happen in this baby boomer's lifetime.  Your Nat'l Health Plan seems a much more sensible idea.  But we're too entrenched in ours, it'll take eons to repair.  Not as easy as a broken bone, eh? lol  CATHY

Actually, no. I left an unconsidered comment on Charley's journal. His reply was measured, clever, and entirely deserved. I have since apologised to him.
