Who's on notice?

With the Toronto Maple Leafs about to enter the 39th season since their last Stanley Cup win, hockey fever has broken out once again in Southern Ontario. As usual, expectations run high; and why shouldn't they? In the largest hockey market in North America, team brass can afford to pay what's necessary to put a competetive team on the ice.
With last year's squad falling short of the post season, nothing less than a run deep into the playoffs will satisfy the rabid Leafs' faithful. Many questioned the work of General Manager John Ferguson Jr. last year, but he preserved his own job by letting go of uber-coach Pat Quinn. Hiring coach Paul Maurice from the AHL Toronto Marlies was a risky move that, if the team fails to perform better this year, should result in the firings of both of them.
Are you listening, Maple Leaf Sports Entertainment? The Leaf Nation is watching you, and YOU'RE ON NOTICE!

Well, they may actually be able to afford paying out the nose for players but the new CBA has put everyone in check with a salary cap.  The Leafs are at about $42 Million now and need to have room incase.... so the team you have now (22 players signed) is pretty much what you get.. unless you trade something away.  Are you satisfied?

I just tried to buy a ticket so that I could be part of that watching Leaf Nation when I'm in town in November: there's such a demand that the screan only gives you three minutes to complete your order before giving the ticket to somebody else.  Damned order form couldn't reconcile the fact that I'd need the ticket sent to the States but wanted to pay with a Canadian credit card.

Sometimes I wish I was a New Jersey fan.  They win the cup several times in the last decade *and* their seats are still always empty.

It's hard out here for a Leaf. :(

That's right!  I remember you saying that your tennis elbow kept you off the curling ice.  Ya know?  They make these things that you can wrap around just above the elbow which are supposed to work.  Don't know if you've tried that, but ya might need to look into it.

As for me, tenis elbow pretty much prematurely ruined my wildly successful foosball career.

Now, why are you putting Editor Joe on notice?  Is it the haircut?
